Train to Teach with ConnectEd Partnership and Best Practice Network (BPN)
Why train with ConnectEd Partnership
As an accredited delivery partner of Best Practice Network (BPN), ConnectEd Partnership is committed to training and developing exceptional teachers for the schools across our network. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about education and driven to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
We provide high-quality teacher training across Primary, Secondary, and Special Education, offering two flexible routes to suit your needs:
- Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship
- Fee-Funded Postgraduate Initial Teacher Training
All programmes are delivered locally in schools across Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas, providing hands-on, school-based experience with the convenience of staying close to home. Each route leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and supports your journey into a rewarding teaching career.
Applications for teacher training starting in September 2025 are now closed.
Recruitment for the September 2026 intake will open October 2025.
What is the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship (PGTA)?
This route is designed for graduates currently working in schools—such as unqualified teachers, Teaching Assistants (TAs), or Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs)—who are ready to progress into a qualified teaching role with the support of their school.
The PGTA offers a clear pathway to becoming a qualified teacher while continuing to work and earn in your school setting.
Why choose the PGTA route?
- Earn while you train – You’ll be employed by a school as an unqualified teacher throughout your training.
- No tuition fees – Training is fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, with no cost to you.
- Learn on the job – Develop your skills in the classroom from day one, with support from experienced mentors and training providers.
The PGTA leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and offers a valuable opportunity to advance your career within your current school or local trust while gaining practical, real-world experience.

What is the Postgraduate Initial Teacher Training (ITT) – Fee-Funded Route?
The fee-funded route is a full-time, school-based training programme completed over 12 months, designed to immerse you in the classroom from day one.
As a trainee, you’ll gain hands-on teaching experience in one of the many schools within ConnectEd Partnership’s network across Wolverhampton and surrounding areas. You’ll be fully supported throughout your journey by a dedicated school-based mentor and an experienced BPN tutor, ensuring you develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed.
During the Spring Term, you’ll also complete a six-week placement in a different school and key stage, giving you a broader perspective and experience across educational settings.
This route leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
