HLTA Preparation & Assessment

Programme Overview

In partnership with Best Practice Network, Connected Partnership is pleased to offer the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Programme from Autumn Term 2019.

The HLTA Preparation and Assessment programme helps teaching assistants gain formal recognition and verification that they meet the national standards for HLTA. The course is delivered by Best Practice Network in line with the National Code of Practice for HLTA, developed by the HLTA National Assessment Partnership (HNAP), a body that upholds the continuity and quality of HLTA

What does the programme involve?

Our programme includes two days of face to face delivery with the equivalent of one day in between for the writing of the tasks and online support. Led by a skilful and experienced tutor, you will be supported and guided to prepare for the 3 hour school based assessment by the relevant Regional Provider of Assessment.

The two days of preparation for assessment will clearly inform candidates of the assessment processes and timescales. The HLTA Standards will be explored in detail with opportunities for candidates to develop their understanding of how the standards can be evidenced in their tasks and portfolio of evidence. The objective is to provide excellent preparation of candidates for the 3 hour school assessment visit that helps to maximise their chances of successfully gaining the status.

All applicants must have:

Some experience of leading whole class learning with no teacher present

Level 2 in Maths and English (Please contact ConnectEd Partnership, on the details below, if you do not have these qualifications or certificates are unavailable)
